Everybody Lies, by Faith Christine

Walking back to mine our steps fall
prey to the same stride, and I wonder why
we never fuck at your house. I’m afraid

the truth will derail the sidewalk,
so instead I tell you one of my feet
is a half-size bigger than the other.

This means all my shoes are misfits.
And that, try as you may, nothing you do
could ever break or complete me.
