In the Stream, by Ceinwen E Cariad Haydon

reeds wound round by currents
a nest holding ovoid stones

light glances on water
I swear I see rinsed cracks
see eggs hatch – not fossils
or creatures of limestone
but soft feathered birds

fleet and sleek
I suspend disbelief
plain faith restored
