The sun throbs behind a sheet, by Manahil Bandukwala

Kisses underestimate
distance between islands.

Sky reaches ocean in a tumble.
Roll in sand, grass
and solidifying tar. Brief
rendezvous doesn’t erase
soil’s dampness, nor dew
glittering on glass blades.

Sky reaches ocean
to touch coral reefs. Ocean
reaches sky, gives atmosphere
a kiss.
